ST ANDREW'S WALLACE GREEN GUILD

TRAILBLAZERS! That's how a former Moderator of the Church of Scotland's General Assembly described the Guild - and we are! The Guild is at the cutting edge of many international projects involved in identifying and helping people in need of support. One of these is ‘Terrify no More’ which helps victims of slavery and sexual exploitation. Now does that sound stuffy to you?

THE 2011 - 2012 PROGRAMME IS HERE!

All meetings are held on a Thursday and start at 7.15pm unless otherwise noted. For more information please contact the Guild President Mrs Di Higham on 01289 302392

Our syllabus is varied and in 2010-11 we enjoyed speakers from CrossReach, Borders Talking Newspaper, North Northumberland Day Hospice, Interfaith Action in Israel and Palestine, Salvation Army, Berwickshire Christian Youth Trust (BCYT), Great North Air Ambulance and Christian Aid. Also super evenings with our own Rena Telfer, Rev. Tom MacDonald and Aileen Richardson who had been ‘up the Amazon’ with The Vine Trust.

The only event affected by the 2010 hard winter was our Christmas Party which had to be abandoned. But we compensated for that with a genuine Passover meal after our AGM (see photographs below). So don’t think we just make tea! We’re a friendly and informal group, meeting fortnightly in the Session Room. Widen your horizons! Come and join us – we’ll make you very welcome.

With around 30,000 members, the Church of Scotland Guild is one of Scotland's largest voluntary organisation. Although women make up the bulk of our membership, increasingly, men are becoming members and taking active roles at local and national levels.
